North
Springs Charter High School
Sandy
Springs Education Force is working with North
Springs Charter High School (NSCHS), Junior
Achievement, and the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber
of Commerce to educate 9th and 10th graders on
financial literacy and success skills. North Springs Charter High
School is implementing a new schedule for the
2009-2010 school year which allows students a 90
minute advisement period each week for tutorial
and/or enriching activities. There is a demonstrated
need to educate our students in the basics of
financial literacy. Recognizing the need for these
skills NSHCS is utilizing some of this time period
to offer all of the ninth and tenth graders the
Junior Achievement program on financial literacy and
success skills.
Utilizing
volunteers from the Sandy Springs Perimeter Chamber
of Commerce, with hands-on business experience,
Junior Achievement brings the real world to students
by bridging the business and education communities.
Junior Achievement provides the volunteers with
turnkey materials necessary to teach the class
including a comprehensive lesson plan guide,
engaging activity materials and posters
This
program introduces students to the importance of
making wise financial decisions including the
importance of planning, goal setting, and thoughtful
decision making.
