Sandy Springs Community Turns Out in Mass for 6th Annual STE(A)M Showcase

On February 24, SSEF held its 6th Annual STE(A)M Showcase at North Springs Charter High School emceed by WXIA-TV’s Donna Lowry. The showcase featured interactive exhibits ranging from 3-D printers to virtual reality goggles where over 1500 Sandy Springs students and citizens explored the fast-changing worlds of Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and — new for 2016 – the Arts. The popular annual event is part of SSEF’s multi-faceted outreach program designed to challenge, inspire and support Sandy Springs public school students’ pursuit of STEAM education and careers.

Watch highlights of SSEF’s 2016 STEAM Showcase:

Woodland Wins!

As an incentive for all 11 schools in Sandy Springs to participate in the STEAM Showcase, a Promethean Viewer was offered to the school with the highest event attendance.  Woodland Elementary, Sandy Springs’ first STEM certified school, was the winner of this valuable piece of classroom equipment. Second and third place went to Spalding Elementary and Sandy Springs Middle.

STEAM SPONSORS
Our STEAM Sponsors not only make the STEAM Showcase possible, but also allow SSEF to fund yearlong STEAM-related outreach and field trips as well as STEAM grants for after-school programs and projects for all 11 schools in Sandy Springs.
