Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics (STEAM) Showcase and Outreach
Each year, SSEF presents an Annual STEAM Showcase for the 11 Sandy Springs public schools and the community. On March 13, 2024, Sandy Springs Education Force will present our 14th Annual STEAM Showcase. The public is invited to attend this exciting, hands-on STEAM event from 6-8 pm. We so appreciate that many of our long-time exhibitors and sponsors, as well as numerous exciting new exhibitors and sponsors, have participated in this very successful event attended by over 1700 middle and high school students during the day and over 900 elementary school students and community members at night. The Showcase is followed by STEAM outreach events, field trips and programs in our schools. SSEF twice received the Georgia STEM Award for Extracurricular Programs by the Technology Association of Georgia for this program. This program serves 2300 students at an annual cost per student of $5.00.
Legacy Grants
From the funds raised through STEAM Showcase sponsorships, SSEF offers STEAM grant opportunities to all public schools in Sandy Springs for ongoing after-school STEAM clubs and programs. Grant recipients display their projects at the annual STEAM Showcase. SSEF Math Madness Tournament
Each April, Sandy Springs Education Force hosts a Math Olympiad, one of three tournaments in Georgia for the International Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools. The objectives of MOEMS® are to teach multiple strategies for out-of-the-box problem solving, develop mathematical flexibility in solving those problems and foster mathematical creativity and ingenuity. Teams of fourth, fifth and sixth graders from public schools in Sandy Springs prepare throughout the year and compete at the Olympiad on a Saturday. SSEF covers all costs for this program; families and schools participate for free.
